  • HI speed Dubbing in the beginning!!

Sometime back in the summer of 2006 guitarist/multi instrumentalist Justin Walker began recording songs and pure sonic experiments in his basement. Using whatever he could get his hands on to produce the wild sounds he heard in his head. He recorded all that summer on a cheap tascam 4-track and by that Fall he took on the moniker of “High Speed Dubbing”.

High Speed Dubbing began passing out CDR’s to friends, Sharing his glorious vision of music that blends lo-fi, psychedelic, Motown, no wave, soul, punk, and just about everything else in his record collection.

It wasn’t until the spring of 2008, that High Speed Dubbing played his first show, at the now closed Record Time in Ferndale Michigan. As a part of a series of shows that marked the store’s unfortunate closing. These shows included several well known Detroit area acts such as Carjack, Duende!, Oscillating Fan Club, and Prussia.

High Speed Dubbing has since grown to include live in addition to Walker on guitar/vocals/loops/keys, the incredible Zenas Jackson on Drums, and the ever stylish and imaginative Jamie Burnstein on Bass/keys/precussion.

Sometimes in life, a man must strike out on his own, and do for himself what others cannot. In the wake of Siddhartha’s relocation to San Francisco, Justin Walker had not much else on his itinerary. What else is a boy to do when his band is gone but turn to his 4-track and his basement of random musical delights?
With High Speed Dubbing, there are flavors of jangle-pop, post-punk, basement-garage, music-concrete-chant, space sediment, and as many non-genres as you want to pretend exist. These are the sounds of the music lover’s daydreams, as candy-coated or bitterly dry as you want them to be. This is what you would do, if you made the time in between the omnipresent mundane moments of life. Justin has created his own world as a place to live in inside this one.
Soon enough, as material appeared, so did gigs, and also a full band. Now with an album under his belt, and a band to back him, Justin is ready to share his slice of life with you the listening audience. Come to a show, grab a beer if you want, and listen to another street poet sing a song for ya. High Speed Dubbing has got a tape you should pop in your player.
